The attendance book is not predicting disappearances; it is completing the roll call. Itadori faces a few seconds of judgment: tearing the page will make the cursed energy seek the nearest responder, waiting will allow the name to be completed, and rashly calling out a name may confirm the target for the technique. The rules of the old lecture hall have already started; the next 'present' must not slip from his mouth.
