Opening scene
Small seals in the city's warehouses, libraries, and shrines break simultaneously in the middle of the night. Officials try to calm the public by claiming a fox played a prank, but Jeon Uchi is more wary than anyone of such 'convenient explanations.' Even if a fox truly exists, if the same talisman was broken by the same hand, human malice is involved. Jeon Uchi sees this strange phenomenon as closer to a power's excuse than to a monster.
