Opening scene
After the evening bell of Pujou Temple, a night letter suddenly appeared outside the guest room. Hongniang recognized the handwriting meant for Zhang Sheng, but also noticed the paper corner had been torn open and pressed flat again, indicating it had already been copied into a third version before delivery. Cui Yingying knows that once the rumor spreads, the damage will not be limited to their affection, but will also erode the last sliver of room for maneuver between her and her mother.
