Opening scene
In Seville, at the hour most useless for prudence, Don Juan receives an ancient key wrapped in black silk. It bears no name, only a date at a convent and a warning: the lock is not where everyone looks for it. Don Juan suspects seduction or a trap; perhaps both. But the key opens above all a network of favors, oaths, and grievances that others have decided to reactivate using his reputation as a cover.
